Kaspa has a hard cap. There will only ever be about 28.7 billion KAS, and no more can be created. Most of it has already been mined, and the rest is released on a schedule that shrinks every month.
Key Kaspa supply terms
- Max supply: about 28.7 billion KAS, fixed by the protocol.
- Circulating supply: the KAS that has been mined so far and exists today.
- % mined: circulating supply as a share of max supply.
- Daily emission: how much new KAS miners receive per day at the current reward.
A fair launch
Kaspa launched in November 2021 with no pre-mine, no pre-sale and no coins set aside for the founders. Every KAS in circulation was mined through proof of work, which is unusual among newer cryptocurrencies.

Download Free on Google PlayWhy emission keeps shrinking
Kaspa's block reward falls a little every month, so that it halves once a year. The total that can ever be mined gets closer to the cap but never goes past it. Each month adds less new KAS than the month before. The details are in our block reward reduction guide.
