KRC-20 Tokens: Kaspa's Token Standard, Explained

KRC-20 is the token standard on Kaspa. It's how projects launch their own tokens on top of the Kaspa network, and like Bitcoin's BRC-20 tokens it has created a busy ecosystem of tickers being deployed and minted every day.

How KRC-20 works

KRC-20 tokens are tracked by the Kasplex protocol. Token operations (deploy, mint, transfer) are written into ordinary Kaspa transactions, and the Kasplex indexer reads them to work out every balance. Each token has a short ticker, a maximum supply and, for fair-mint tokens, a mint limit: the fixed amount anyone receives each time they mint.

Minting vs fully minted

Track KRC-20 tokens in KaspaDash

  1. Open the Tokens tab to browse the KRC-20 ecosystem.
  2. Filter by Minting or Fully minted, or search any ticker, even one that isn't in the list yet.
  3. Open a token to see its mint progress, supply, burns, holder count, top holders and recent activity.
  4. Star your favourites to pin them to the top.

Be careful with new tokens

Anyone can deploy a KRC-20 token, and tickers aren't trademarks, so a familiar name tells you nothing about who's behind it. Check holder concentration and activity before getting involved, and remember that most new tokens are highly speculative. KaspaDash shows token data for information only. It isn't a wallet and can't mint or trade.
